Crumpled notion of life. by ~Immortelle seeks to define the meaning of life as humans. It challenges our belief systems, that which we value and that we discard. Humanity is every fickle, ever-changing and what we hold dear today, we may reject tomorrow and vice versa. The artist s' use of textures and colours emphasizes the subtle fragility of life. She notes in the comments that she "crumpled up everything" during the process, we're glad she chose not to abandon it. Description

Note: This is one the paintings for my final thesis project.

Short summary of the main theme:
A simple but highly important issue in collective idea of life is that “human beings” has a meaning. But the “meaning of man” is something that is likely been buried long ago. It is something very rarely considered that “the life of man is important in some way”. Not many in this busy life know for sure who or what a man actually is or should be according to many important things. The sense of true belief is missing. A belief on something, a meaning that makes man all precious and important as he should be, because he is. This buried thought is depicted as something that is rejected just like a crumpled paper. An old thought thrown away as mankind aged along time and swirl of the world.

Reference and inspirational aspects:
Combination of a few quotes and my own taste with this particular topic, I chose some selected verses from the exclusively divine poetry of Allama Iqbal’s.

Painting theme:
Selected verse for this specific piece is,

Abtar az andesha-e-sood o zayan hay zindagi,
hay kabhi jan aur kabhi tasleem-e-jan zindagi.
(Allama Iqbal)

Paraphrase: Life is more aloft then the fear of gain and loses. Sometimes the soul and sometimes to surrender the soul is life.

Crouched man: As a suffered human life.
Light in the hand: As surrendering one’s life.
