Pulling the Miracle by Immortelle Pulling the Miracle by Immortelle
Entry for Favourite Tale Contest organized by Painters [link]

One of many favourite tales of mine as a kid, young Arthur pulling out the sword from the stone. King Arthur is a legend, greatly inspiring one. Even he is a legend, a fairy tale but that story seemed almost real to me once. This piece depicts the almost time of a miracle. How it must have felt to stand on that stone, people around, watching. It must have rained the previous night, explains the water and a single petal amongst fallen leaves denotes a ray of hope in darkest hours. The face is not focused as, Arthur's legend and how he was is unknown and everyone has their own interpretation of that legendary face. So, it is left for your imagination.

Very well done.  It looks like something that should be on a Magic: the Gathering card.

Well, did it for the contest and some how, King Arthur's story is like,..... a personal favourite since childhood. Only made id different while thinking that, what Arthur must have felt like pulling the sword. So tried to view how it looked like to him, through his eyes... :)

thank you so much for commenting.

Probably one of the most original and epic representations of the scene that I ever
The angle and the composition is so dramatic. Also I liked the shade of blue used on the reflection, a kinda violet, it looks dreamy or royal.

I love how unique the composition is! There's a lot of renditions of Arthur's tale out there, but I've never seen one from this perspective. Also, the ambiguity of his face was a good idea - it ties into your explanation very well.

And, of course, lovely job with the painting overall.

That's an interesting perspective!

I really liked the bright colours you used for this. To me, it emphasizes the fact that Arthur was real young when you pulled the sword out of the stone. The details are awesome too, everything looks so real! Awesome painting! :aww:

:tighthug: :D It is a refreshing painting!! You can tell everything that is going on without seeing people's faces! The story is very clear and actually stirs my imagination even more, leaving me with the desire to know what happens next, just beyond the frame! :) plus I love the medium you used!
