Entry for Favourite Tale Contest organized by Painters [link]
One of many favourite tales of mine as a kid, young Arthur pulling out the sword from the stone. King Arthur is a legend, greatly inspiring one. Even he is a legend, a fairy tale but that story seemed almost real to me once. This piece depicts the almost time of a miracle. How it must have felt to stand on that stone, people around, watching. It must have rained the previous night, explains the water and a single petal amongst fallen leaves denotes a ray of hope in darkest hours. The face is not focused as, Arthur's legend and how he was is unknown and everyone has their own interpretation of that legendary face. So, it is left for your imagination.
